A heartwarming endingYup, nearly a month late, but I finally completed the last 2 episode of the series.Fuyuki’s character and plot were really rather bland, and I still think it’s the weakest part of the series. Glad they finished it off at episode 12. I really shared Chiaki’s annoyance at the fella, although in my [...]

Add to myYahoo! There are some mysteries in this magical world that are so unsolvable, even Conan would be baffled. Like why Hirano Aya is popular, or why otaku loves large pillows. But the biggest mystery might be Code Geass R2’s TV ratings. Abysmally low would be an understatement. Is it because people are downloading it? Or because the [...]

Add to myYahoo!I always have a habit of listening to music while reading my stack of History readings. Usually the readings will be Times New Roman font size 10, 10 + pages, double sided and might start from a single digit century (For example, the 5th century). There are times when I doze off completely before I [...]

Add to myYahoo!I was linked to a Chinese BBS site yesterday to read an interesting article. Apparently, one Chinese publisher decided to publish a compilation of past-year high school graduation examination model essays and somehow included in it a somewhat suspicious piece of writing. Not to mention that the book was a compilation of full-mark essays. I [...]

An “itazurana” blog entry here, as I’m typing this at work…
Kotoko is smothered by Naoki’s mother and treated like dirt by Naoki and his brother, so she hatches a plan to combine the two problems - she blackmails Naoki into tutoring her to get onto the top 50 scoreboard in the next set of tests by using photos of Naoki dressed up as a girl from when he was young (Mrs Irie must have no idea how much she must have traumatised the poor lad).
Not a lot to sum up here, unsurprisingly, as the plot in most of these school-type comedies is always pretty flimsy. However, compared to Special A it’s clear that the material is about five thousand times stronger; it’s actually funny, for one, and the story can actually GO somewhere here. Special A is presumably going to stay mostly in stasis for the whole show; the minute Hikari decides she’s in love with Kei (if she does) the whole show goes kaput, regardless of what happens with the secondary characters. Itazurana Kiss, on the other hand, is all about moving the central relationship forward somehow, which makes for a much more entertaining story; there’s something new to see each week, rather than the same thing repeated in a slightly different configuration.
Well, hopefully, anyway. Let’s see how it goes from here.

Add to myYahoo!Summary:Naeka is having a rough day, as she accidentally bends the special whistle (Kinkou) and then does extremely poorly on her math midterm. Izumi Eiko scores 78, Hirano Miwa scores 65, but Naeka only gets a 30 and has to retake the midterm. If Naeka cannot score above a 60 on the make-up [...]
