Pandora Hearts - First Impressions

Well this was a pretty good episode though the first half did feel a little slow. They were trying to set up the setting and introduce characters so I can?t really blame them for taking their time there. Still it was a relief when the story started to pick up after finding that grave. After that point everything got much more interesting and the end of the episode came before I knew it.

Valkyria Chronicles - First Impressions

Well the first episode did a good job in getting us set up for the war and introducing some characters. There are going to be quite a few when they involve the secondary characters. Visually I thought the episode looked quite nice. Even for those who didn?t play the game I think everything was introduced well so they have an idea what is going on. I liked the introduction of the Valkyria mythology and also showing why Darksens get negative reactions by people.

Blogging live from Cyberfusion 2009, the largest (and probably the first of its kind) LAN party in Malaysia with the aim of breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest LAN party recorded. Lots of teething issues to start with, heck we all couldn’t even get decent Internet connection until now. Four hours in to [...]

Toradora! - Final Impressions

This final episode really surprised me. I pretty much guessed that things would turn out as they did in the end, but it didn?t think that Taiga would basically disappear for almost a whole year it seems. At first there seemed to be absolutely no reason for it. I was stunned and just didn?t? see the point. However for this most part it didn?t matter that much since she ended up with him in the end, it still seemed odd. However looking at it closer I suppose it is important, as it gives better closure to the family issues that she was having. After all, Ryuji settled his problems with his mom, yet Taiga was still left on her own for that one. Although we didn?t really see it, it provided enough time and reason for her to have gotten though those but still end up with him in the end, which was great.

As for the series overall, I just absolutely loved it. I was amazed at how they handled things. It?s not often you find a series that takes this approach to romance and a love triangle. Usually you?ll have all girls like the one guy from the start or something but for a VERY long time they developed these characters as BOTH having feelings for other people, yet though those experiences, though helping each other get with other people they grew close and closer until they realized they actually loved each other. It?s not something you see very often and they handled it very well I thought. I was also very glad to see the final two episodes the way they were. Although the last one kind of surprised me in the direction Taiga took, actually having episodes AFTER the two love interests get together is so rare but always so helpful to the story. Most anime will end as the people confess to each other or something, unless it?s a pure shoujo anime, however here there was actually more to it and it was great to see.

Minami-ke Okaeri - Final Impressions

This season was pretty much what I expected it to be. It was pretty much exactly like the last season. However I couldn?t help but feel a slight decline in how funny this season was compared to the previous one, as was the case with the second being compared to the first, but to a lesser degree. It?s not that this is a bad series or not funny at all, it is and I really enjoyed it, but it just seemed like either some of the charm was no longer there or they were kind of reusing some of the material. The main thing that made this show so hilariously funny the first season were the characters. The chemistry and interactions between Kana and Chiaki were just amazing and hilarious, however that is what drove the comedy and after a while we kind of got the picture. Even though this season wasn?t the most amazing thing ever or anything like that it was still a great joy to sit down and watch every week. It was just a nice show that you could relax to.

As I said one of the best points about this series altogether, and this season, were the chemistry and interactions between Kana and Chiaki. Haruka was almost not needed at all; she was just there to make it a bit more believable that they were living by themselves. Kana?s total laziness and sly clever nature to trick Chiaki or try and get more out of a situation was great, and Chiaki?s attitude of not putting up with any crap just fit perfect with Kana trying to do things all the time. Although as I said this season wasn?t anywhere near as funny as previous seasons, I still wouldn?t mind seeing another season just because even mediocre episodes that may not be hilarious were just fun to watch for Kana and Chiaki.

A Battle Card Game Featuring Nanoha, Lucky Star,
Zero no Tsukaima, Fate Stay/Night and more

Funny coincidence, I finally learnt how to play Magic the Gathering last night. I’ve never bothered learning, though I was once quite an expert in Yuugioh card game like 8 years ago. Just now, MistaYoh alerted me to an event he was organising, a tournament for a seemingly-cool card game featuring plenty of anime female [...]
